Lena Jonsson Trio

Lena Jonsson is regarded as one of the most influential fiddle players in Scandinavia today, and we are excited to introduce her Swedish Grammy Award winning trio to Shetland Folk Festival audiences.
Lena Jonsson’s ability to balance a deep knowledge of traditional Swedish folk music with innovative artistic sensibilities and sparkling joy of life have made her one Sweden’s most visionary musicians. She has created a unique style inspired by traditional Swedish music as well as the youthful sounds of rock, pop, jazz, American old-time and bluegrass. She previously played at the Festival herself in 2017 with the Goodbye Girls, but this will be the first time Shetland gets to hear her own band. Together with guitarist Erik Ronström and bassist Krydda Sundström they create a virtuosic yet playful trio. Their latest album ”Stories from the Outside” won both a Swedish Grammys and the Manifest prize in 2021 and Album of the year by LIRA Music Magazine. Lena Jonsson Trio is an act you won’t want to miss and can’t forget.
