Mary Rutherford

Mary Rutherford was born and brought up in Shetland, and is one of the isles leading players who wowed audiences at last year's Festival concert in the Legion.

Mary won the Young Fiddler of the year in 2005 (a competition that she now often judges) and her style is influenced by the fact that she also went on to be classically trained. Today, she performs as a solo artist but can also be found performing with other folk and scottish dance bands.

She currently performs with the Alex Hodgson Dance Band and the Tay Ceilidh Band, who she has also recorded with.

At this year's Festival, she will be performing solo and accompanied by Kirsten Hendry on piano.
